Udaipur is the desert city well known as ‘White City’.This is well known
for its magnificence and elegance. Being named as the ‘Venice of the East’,
this place is popular for forts, palaces and lakes. It was founded by Maharana
Udai Singh in the year 1559. The city is profound for palaces, arts and hubs.
1. Admire the
Monsoon Palace:
Monsoon Palace was once used to be a favourite spot for Mewar royal
family during the monsoon season. It is also called as Sajjan Garh which is
located on the hill above the city. It is now placed in the government hands.
It was built to depict the monsoon weather conditions and later used as a
hunting lodge for royal families. You can watch the beautiful colour changing
of many valleys and palaces in the city.
2. Never miss
the sunset at Ambrai Ghat:
Ambrai Ghat is popular for photography, especially during the sunset. It
is located in front of the Lake Palace hotel and opposite to the city palace.
You can have a look at all the major attractions like City Palace, Udaivilaas
hotel and lake palace hotel. It is crowded with the couple during the evening
time as it will look more romantic. The best time to have a memorable picture
in Ambrai Ghat is evening. Also, plan your trip to Udaipur while travelling
through the Palace on Wheels train.
3. Boating on
Fateh Sagar and Lake Pichola:
Lake Pichola and Fateh Sagar are man-made lakes in Udaipur. The boat in
any of these lakes will surely give a new perspective about the city. From the
bottom of the Moti Magra hill, you can hire a motorboat or paddle for rent and
explore the most beautiful Fateh Sagar Lake. The Boat will depart from the
Rameshwar Ghat.
4. Bagore Ki
Haveli:
Bagore Ki Haveli is a museum located on the edge of Lake Pichola,
Gangaur Ghat. This place is well known for architectural beauty and was built
by the prime minister of Mewar in the 18th century. It is a great experience to
wander and understand the royal lifestyle. There are 100 rooms inside the
Haveli and also terraces, courtyards, fine mirror works and beautiful frescoes.
There is a display of Rajasthani arts and crafts, royal paintings, fine mirror
works and many more. The puppet show and folk dance performances will be held
between 7 P.M to 8 P.M.
5. Explore
the City Palace Complex:
City Palace is the marvellous architecture which is located on the banks
of Lake Pichola. It is a blend of European, Chinese and medieval architecture
and you may even find the stunning terrace, arches, pavilion and courtyards
inside. Of crystal and porcelain statues of Ruby Palace into a luxury décor
Pearl Palace to murals and frescoes of the Palace of Joy - walking through the
City Palace is a spectacle of himself.
6. Saheliyon
ki Bari:
It is also called the garden of companions. It is located on the edge of
the lush green hills. It is was built for the Queen and royal ladies in the
18th century. Rain fountain was intended to create the illusion of rain dancing
in time with the maid dancing.
Stroll down the winding road and find the beautiful lotus-filled pond
pad, flower, elephant-shaped fountain and bougainvillaea abound that fills the
heart of the garden. The weather here will be present in September and March.
